Taxpayers, regardless of direct impact by the storms, residing or conducting their main business in any of the affected California counties, are entitled to an automatic extension of time until October 16, 2023, for filing and paying most federal and California tax obligations.
Taxpayers whose tax preparers are in any of the listed counties are also covered by the extension, even if they themselves are located outside of the listed counties. Seghetti Waxler is located in Santa Cruz County, one of the listed counties.

Please plan on making your normally timed filing or file and extension. Remember, an extension is an extension of time to file, not an extension of time to pay.
We continue to make every effort to complete tax returns submitted by our original submission due date of March 10th, 2023 by the traditional April 17th deadline.
Taxes submitted after that date will generally be completed on a first-in-first-out basis. We continue to have hard deadlines for financial statements and other engagements falling shortly after the initial April 17th deadline.
Turnaround time will likely be extended as resources are used to meet our deadlines after April 17th and our staff takes some much-needed time off.
